Madrid was created as the capital of Spain in the 17th century and quickly became the greatest repository of the Spanish Empire's art treasures. Explore the art of the Prado, Reina Sophia and Thyssen-Bornemisza Museums. The audience will be introduced to the largest collection of paintings by old masters Velazquez, Goya and the Venetian Master Tiziano now in the Prado Museum. The lesser known repository of Renaissance art in the Convent of the Barefoot Nums and, lastly, some of the treasures of the Royal Palace will be examined.
