The Trip: Eat, Drink and Try Not to Kill Each Other

The Trip (2010)

When Steve Coogan (24 Hour party People, Tropic of Thunder) is asked by The Observer of London to review six  restaurants in northern England, he envisions it as the perfect getaway with his beautiful (pretend) girlfriend, but is forced, with great reluctance, to ask his best friend and source of eternal aggravation, Rob Brydon (Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story) instead.  As the brilliant comic duo, free-styling with flair, drive each other mad with constant competition and showdowns of competing impressions of famous celbs, the ultimate odd couple realize in the end a rich amount about not only good food, but the nature of fame, relationships and their own lives.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. is NOT a NASCAR Driver

September 27th, 2011 · New Music

Alt Band Named After Dale Earnhardt Jr. Has Driver’s Blessing

According to Patrick McHugh, blogger for New England Sports Network (NESN), the Detroit-based duo of Joshua Espstein and Daniel Zott “wanted to name themselves after their favorite athlete, NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., but sought permission before hand.  Unlike NFL Hall of Fame quarterback john Elway, who was less than thrilled to see a band use his name, the 36-year-old driver of the Number 88 car was more than OK with the title.”

According to Zott, Earnhardt, Jr. answered a letter from the two.  “He was all about the name, said Zott in an interview.  “He was flattered that a band would use his name.  He thought it was funny.  He’s a fan of our music.”

The band’s major-label debut CD,  It’s a Corporate World is now in our CD collection for Manhasset residents.

What do Bruce Willis, Ray Liotta and five girls in pink dresses have in common?
They’re all featured in today’s new DVD releases.

For the action lovers, there’s The River Murders.  A homicide detective, Ray Liotta, while investigating a series of murders becomes the prime suspect when the FBI uncovers his close personal ties to all the victims.  The film also stars Ving Rhames and Christian Slater.

In Setup, a group of friends become involved in a potentially deadly diamond heist.
Both are rated R.

After all that action that little “Chick Flick” Bridesmaids might be refreshing!  Kristin Wiig wrote and stars in this girls’ answer to Hangover
Thirty-something Annie (Wiig) has hit a rough patch but finds her life turned completely upside down when she takes on the Maid of Honor role in her best friend Lillian’s (Maya Rudolph) wedding.  In way over her head but determined to succeed, Annie leads a hilarious hodgepodge of bridesmaids on a wild ride down the toad to the big event.
These and all other new DVDs are for Manhasset residents only and can be found in the New section.
