Notary Public

The library offers a free Notary Public service for the benefit of the residents of our community.  Walk-in notary services are available Monday through Friday from library opening through 4:30 p.m.  However, there may be days or times when the notary is not available.  We recommend calling 516-627-2300 x331 to make an appointment.

Please read the following before utilizing the Library’s Notary Public service:

  • You must bring the complete document, with blanks filled-in (except the signature).
  • Do not sign your document in advance. All documents must be signed in the presence of the Notary Public.
  • You must bring a current government-issued photo id such as driver’s license, passport or non-driver’s id.
  • Notary Service is free to Manhasset School District residents. (Must provide proof of residency.) For all others there is a charge of $1 per signature.
  • The Library does not provide witnesses. If you require a witness, you must provide your own.
  • The document must have either an affidavit or oath/affirmation on it in order for us to notarize the document.

What a Notary Can and Cannot Do:

  • New York Notaries cannot certify copies of documents.
