This book is a real page-turner \u2013 the fact that it is a true story makes it all the more enveloping! <a href=\"https:\/\/nassau.overdrive.com\/search?query=Bad%20Blood\">Available on Libby\/Overdrive as ebook and audio book<\/a><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Elaine N<\/strong><u>.<\/u> &#8211; Circulation Dept.<br \/>\nI\u2019m reading <a href=\"https:\/\/nassau.overdrive.com\/search?query=Searching%20for%20Sylvie%20Lee\"><em>Searching for Sylvie Lee<\/em><\/a> by Jean Kwok. The book is a journey through a family\u2019s sacrifices to make a better life for their two daughters. A heart-felt story about family, love, and secrets. <a href=\"https:\/\/nassau.overdrive.com\/search?query=Searching%20for%20Sylvie%20Lee\">Available on Libby\/Overdrive as eBook and audio book<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kristen G<\/strong>. &#8211; Circulation Dept.<br \/>\nMy latest read was <a href=\"https:\/\/nassau.overdrive.com\/search?query=Such%20a%20Fun%20Age\"><em>Such a Fun Age<\/em><\/a> by Kiley Reid. The premise involves a young black woman wrongly accused of kidnapping the white child she is babysitting for. A light read that asks some deep questions. Reese\u2019s Book Club Pick \u2013 one to put on hold! <a href=\"https:\/\/nassau.overdrive.com\/search?query=Such%20a%20Fun%20Age\">Available on Libby\/Overdrive as eBook and audio book<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Stephanie C. <\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Circulation Dept.<br \/>\nI\u2019ve just finished the second book in Louise Penny\u2019s Inspector Gamache series \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/nassau.overdrive.com\/search?query=A%20Fatal%20Grace\"><em>A Fatal Grace<\/em><\/a><u>.<\/u> The first book, <a href=\"https:\/\/nassau.overdrive.com\/search?query=Still%20Life\"><em>Still Life<\/em><\/a>, is available now on Libby. My next book is <a href=\"https:\/\/nassau.overdrive.com\/search?query=Sold%20on%20a%20Monday\"><em>Sold on a Monday<\/em><\/a>, by Kristina McMorris. I\u2019ve seen many patrons borrow this historical fiction set during the depression, and my hold just came through on <a href=\"https:\/\/nassau.overdrive.com\/\">Libby<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Classics \u2013 Available on <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nassau.overdrive.com\/\"><strong>Libby<\/strong><\/a><strong>!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nassau.overdrive.com\/search?query=Dracula\"><em>Dracula<\/em><\/a> \u2013 by Bram Stoker. The gothic novel published in 1897 is written as journal entries. A young English lawyer travels to Transylvania to meet his client, Count Dracula.\u00a0\u00a0 Compare the book to the many movies made \u2013 let us know your favorite! Linda G.- Circulation Dept.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nassau.overdrive.com\/search?query=A%20Room%20with%20a%20View\"><em>A Room With A View<\/em><\/a> \u2013 by E.M. Forster. You may already know the plot, but this book is so well written and so romantic, you will not be able to put it down.\u00a0\u00a0 Will Lucy Honeychurch pick the right man? Also tune in to the wonderful Helena Bonham-Carter movie. Daniel Day-Lewis and Julian Sands are the love interests. *Sigh* One of my all-time favorite books. Stephanie C.- Circulation Dept.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Streaming Movies and More<\/strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n<p><em><strong><u>Hunters<\/u><\/strong><\/em> (Amazon)<br \/>\nNazi hunters discover hundreds of high-ranking Nazi officials conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the U.S. Starring Al Pacino, the Hunters set out to bring the Nazi\u2019s to justice and thwart their new plans. Warning \u2013 there is violence, and some scenes are hard to watch, but I found it riveting. Linda P.- Administration<\/p>\n<p><em><strong><u>Land of Girls<\/u><\/strong><\/em> (Netflix)<br \/>\nIf you like <u>Call the Midwife<\/u> you will like this British series set in rural England during the second world war. Linda G., Circulation Dept.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong><u>Parasite<\/u><\/strong><\/em> (DVD)<br \/>\nAn Oscar winning international movie about a poor family that makes their way into a wealthy household through lies. With unexpected twists, the movie will keep you engaged from start to finish. Elaine N.- Circulation Dept.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong><u>Self-Made<\/u><\/strong><\/em> (Netflix)<br \/>\nStarring Octavia Spencer, the true story of Madam C.J. Walker, who was the first female self-made millionaire in the early 1900\u2019s. What\u2019s better than some \u201cgirl power\u201d. I loved it! Linda P.- Administration<\/p>\n<p><em><strong><u>Turner Classic Movies<\/u><\/strong><\/em> \u2013 (TCM \u2013 on Cable Providers)<br \/>\nEvery Thursday, TCM has \u201cNew York in the 1970\u2019s\u201d as a theme. This week is <em><u>Annie Hall<\/u><\/em> at 8 PM and <em><u>Manhattan<\/u><\/em> at 10 PM. It\u2019s a hoot to see New York back in the day, before the city was gentrified. Last week I watched <em><u>Panic in Needle Park<\/u><\/em> and <em><u>The Taking of Pelham 123<\/u><\/em> \u2013 makes you remember when people WANTED to leave New York City and why! Watch them to take a trip back to the not too distant past\u2026Stephanie C.- Circulation Dept.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong><u>Unorthodox<\/u><\/strong><\/em> (Netflix)<br \/>\nThe story of a Hasidic Jewish woman in Brooklyn who flees an arranged marriage and is taken in by a group of musicians until her past comes calling. Compelling \u2013 recommended by Linda P.-Administration and Nancy M., Circulation<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Podcasts<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One of my favorite podcasts is <em><strong><u>Great Lives<\/u><\/strong><\/em>, a biographical series in which guests choose someone who has inspired their lives.
