Reading with Libby:<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Redhead by the Side of the Road<\/a> <\/em>by Anne Tyler – Anne Tyler\u2019s latest book is about Micah, a creature of habit, whose world is turned upside down when a young man knocks on his door claiming to be his son. Other Anne Tyler titles<\/a> available in Libby to try are A Spool of Blue Thread, Clock Dance<\/em> and The Accidental Tourist<\/em>. The Splendid and the Vile<\/a> <\/em>by Erik Larson \u2013 The fascinating, true story of Winston Churchill\u2019s time in office as Prime Minister during World War II. The book delves not only into Churchill\u2019s professional life, but also his personal life. Excellent! All the Light We Cannot See<\/a><\/em> by Anthony Doerr \u2013 Bestseller about a blind French girl and a German boy whose paths collide in occupied France during World War II. Deeply moving – I\u2019ve read it twice! World War II is an incredibly rich backdrop for many novels. If you\u2019ve never explored it, now is the time. The collection contains everything from current movies \u2013 like Moonlight<\/a><\/em> \u2013 to educational documentaries \u2013 like the Great Courses<\/a><\/em> \u2013 to comedies like Big Night<\/a><\/em> or Heartburn<\/a><\/em>. When you\u2019ve had a chance to explore, let us know what you\u2019ve enjoyed. In the meantime, here are some recommendations from our staff:<\/p>\n Goya\u2019s Ghosts<\/a><\/em> \u2013 A movie about Napoleon\u2019s invasion of Spain told through Francisco Goya\u2019s eyes. Reminiscent of Les Miserables without the music. If you enjoyed that story, you\u2019ll love Goya\u2019s Ghost. Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story<\/a><\/em> \u2013 Hollywood star Hedy Lamarr was not only beautiful, she was also brilliant. Fascinating documentary about her invention that revolutionized telecommunications. As a companion, read The Only Woman in the Room<\/a><\/em> by Marie Benedict. (Available on Libby) OBIT<\/a><\/em> \u2013 An insider\u2019s look into the world of New York Times obituary writers. Fascinating! The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill<\/a><\/em> \u2013 A formerly homeless street musician cares for abandoned parrots. His interaction with the birds was mesmerizing as they become his family.\u00a0\u00a0 This movie can be watched by young and old alike. Hoopla<\/a><\/em><\/strong> \u2013 Stream or download movies, music, books and more<\/p>\n Hoopla<\/a><\/em> has a wonderful collection of titles, including television shows. If you\u2019re a BBC fan, Hoopla carries The Great British Baking Show<\/a><\/em>, Death in Paradise<\/a><\/em>, Agatha Christie\u2019s Miss Marple<\/a><\/em> and Hercule Poirot<\/a><\/em>, Call the Midwife<\/a><\/em>, Foyle\u2019s War<\/a><\/em> and many more.<\/p>\n This week I explored the music section on Hoopla<\/em>, which has many different genres. I downloaded Claire de Lune<\/a><\/em> from the classical section. Beautiful calming music during these crazy times! Emma<\/a> <\/em>\u2013 Jane Austen\u2019s heroine brought to life by Gwyneth Paltrow. Emma meddles in everyone\u2019s romantic life, but neglects her own.\u00a0\u00a0 Perfect casting! Some other romances available on Hoopla are Kate & Leopold<\/a><\/em>, An Ideal Husband<\/a><\/em>, Maid in Manhattan<\/a><\/em> and Chocolat<\/a><\/em>. What is your favorite genre?<\/p>\n Home Subscription Streaming Services:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Ozark<\/em> (Netflix) \u2013 A financial advisor drags his family from Chicago to the Missouri Ozarks, where he must launder money to appease a drug boss. Character-driven drama with lots of twists, turns and suspense. Bosch<\/em> (Amazon) \u2013 The sixth season of this amazing detective drama started streaming last week. Based on Michael Connelly\u2019s detective novels. The best reason to get Amazon Prime. <\/p>\n \u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Podcasts<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Your Own Backyard<\/em> \u2013 This seven episode podast tells the story of the 1997 disappearance of Cal PolyTech student Kristin Smart.
