It is a tale of family, magic and new beginnings. I couldn\u2019t put it down. <strong><em>Stephanie C., Circulation <a href=\"https:\/\/nassau.overdrive.com\/search?query=The%20Seven%20or%20Eight%20Deaths%20of%20Stella%20Fortuna\">Available as an audiobook and ebook on Libby<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Romanov Sisters<\/em><\/strong> by Helen Rappaport \u2013 True story about the lives of the four Romanov sisters. The story captures their joys and their tragic end with great historical detail. A fascinating story. <strong><em>Linda G., Circulation<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/nassau.overdrive.com\/media\/1489138\">Available on Libby<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Roots<\/em><\/strong> by Alex Haley \u2013 First published in 1976, <strong><em>Roots<\/em><\/strong> is the story of Kunta Kinte, an 18<sup>th<\/sup>-Century African who as an adolescent was sold into slavery and transported to North America. The book follows his life and the lives of his descendents in the United States all the way to Alex Haley himself. <strong><em>Larry L., Reference<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Available on <a href=\"https:\/\/nassau.overdrive.com\/media\/522290\">Libby<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopladigital.com\/title\/11397890\">Hoopla<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Godfather<\/em><\/strong> by Mario Puzo \u2013 If you\u2019ve only seen the movie, you are missing out on a great page-turner of a book. The novel introduces us to the Corleone family and their immigration to America. <strong><em>Kristin G., Circulation<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/nassau.overdrive.com\/media\/238632\">Available on Libby<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Hidden Valley Road<\/em><\/strong> by Robert Kolker \u2013 This is a compelling, at times heartbreaking, story of the Galvins family who had 12 children, 10 of them boys. As the boys grew older, some began to exhibit disturbing or violent behavior. Over time 6 of the 10 were diagnosed with schizophrenia. This book explores the impact of mental illness on the entire family, as well as changes in the treatment of schizophrenia over times. <strong><em>Cheryl K., Reference<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/nassau.overdrive.com\/search?query=Hidden%20Valley%20Road\">Available on Libby<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Educated <\/em><\/strong>by Tara Westover \u2013 Award-winning memoir of a young girl growing up in an isolated, survivalist family. Her quest for a new kind of life transformed her. An engrossing saga of the amazing strengths and weaknesses of these three giants of history. <strong><em>Linda G., Circulation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kanopy.com\/product\/roosevelts\">Available on Kanopy<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Big Night<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 A restaurant run by brothers sadly sits empty and is in danger of closing, until a celebrity night promises to turn their business around. You will walk away hungry! <strong><em>Cheryl K., Reference <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kanopy.com\/product\/big-night\">Available on Kanopy<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>For Asian-American Pacific Islander Heritage Month:<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Pachinko<\/em><\/strong> by Min Jin Lee \u2013 A sprawling family drama set in Korea and Japan during the 1900\u2019s. There is love, sorrow, sacrifice, war and racism \u2013 all in this epic historical novel during another culture and time. I was drawn into the characters and invested in their fate. Nancy M., Circulation <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/nassau.overdrive.com\/search?query=Pachinko\">Available as an audiobook and ebook on Libby<\/a><\/em><\/strong><strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/nassau.overdrive.com\/search?query=Pachinko\">\u00a0<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Joy Luck Club<\/em><\/strong> by Amy Tan \u2013 The relationship between four Chinese mothers and their daughters. Amy Tan\u2019s debut novel was made into a hit movie (available on Amazon) and generated other great family sagas \u2013 <strong><em>The Kitchen God\u2019s Wife<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>The Bonesetter\u2019s Daughter<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>The Valley of Amazement<\/em><\/strong>. <strong><em>Kristin G., Circulation<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/nassau.overdrive.com\/search?query=Amy%20Tan\">All Available on Libby<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Island of Sea Women<\/em><\/strong> by Lisa See \u2013 A fictional account of the woman of Jeju Island, who dive to great depths and in freezing water to harvest abalone from the sea floor. The society is matriarchal, with the women working and the men caring for the house and children. <strong><em>Diane M., Circulation<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/nassau.overdrive.com\/search?query=The%20Island%20of%20Sea%20Women\">Available as an audiobook and ebook on Libby<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The British Royal Family:<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>The ultimate experience of schadenfreude. Season 1 is about her marriage to Prince Philip and her relationship with her sister, Margaret, as well as her respect for Winston Churchill. Season 2 focuses on the Suez crisis, the birth of her children and President Kennedy\u2019s visit to Buckingham Palace. Season 3 starts with a new Prime Minister, Harold Wilson, and follows Prince Charles\u2019 investiture as Prince of Wales. With Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth II, this movie focuses on the Queen\u2019s reaction to the death of Princess Diana.
