Standards that apply<br \/>\nto our collection selection and maintenance apply to the Local Author materials.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Authors must reside in Nassau County or the book must take place in Manhasset, or<br \/>\notherwise demonstrate a strong local interest.<br \/>\n\u25cf Authors must submit a copy of their book for review by library staff along with the<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/Local-Author-Submission-Form-ck-2023.pdf\">Local Author Submission Form<\/a>. The review copy will be returned upon request.<br \/>\n\u25cf A positive review in one or more of the major review journals (such as <em>Library<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Journal, School Library Journal, Kirkus Reviews, Booklist<\/em> and <em>Publishers Weekly<\/em>) is<br \/>\nthe best way to bring a title to our attention. We are more likely to consider the<br \/>\naddition of a self-published book if it has been reviewed in a major review journal.<br \/>\n\u25cf Please include a link to the book&#8217;s website and links to reviews or other coverage in<br \/>\nthe news media (if available).<br \/>\n\u25cf The author must represent and warrant full ownership and\/or legal rights to publish<br \/>\nall material in their book.<br \/>\n\u25cf Local authors offering a book for inclusion in our Local Author collection must<br \/>\nunderstand that the book is property of the Manhasset Public Library and subject to<br \/>\nthe Collection Maintenance guidelines applied to other library materials.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/Local-Author-Submission-Form-ck-2023.pdf\"><b>Local Author Submission Form<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Local Author Materials The library may acquire self-published books when they feature unique local content, fit the scope of the Library&#8217;s collection and meet our selection criteria.
