“My connection to making art began early.\u00a0 As a young child, I would sit at the kitchen table and draw while my mother worked at her dressmaking.\u00a0 As much as I wished to, I never pursued my desire to follow art as a career choice.\u00a0 Instead, my life path led to college, marriage, family and teaching.\u00a0 To nourish my creative side during this phase of my life, I created quilts, stained glass, and handmade books which could all be done whenever I had time.<\/p>\n
“When I retired from teaching, I decided it was finally time to really ‘study’ art, and so I took my first watercolor class in 2oo1.\u00a0 From there it was easy to segue to oil painting, and then to printmaking with its many different techniques.\u00a0 My favorite technique is the monotype because it allows me to paint directly on a printing plate or silk screen just as I would paint on canvas or paper.\u00a0 ‘Making’ art is my passion now.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
