{"id":7712,"date":"2013-12-10T15:46:03","date_gmt":"2013-12-10T19:46:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/?p=7712"},"modified":"2017-07-18T13:29:37","modified_gmt":"2017-07-18T17:29:37","slug":"george-adler","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/george-adler\/","title":{"rendered":"George Adler"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>&#8220;Tulip Dreams&#8221; &#8211; &#8220;The influence of computer technology will be inescapable in the future of photography&#8230;<!--more--><\/em><\/p>\n<p>But it should not ruin the original idea of the artist freezing the moment of pleasure what he, or she is seeing through his or her eyes and wants to share with others.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I was born in Hungary. \u00a0As a 12 year old I barely survived the Holocaust but lost both my parents in the concentration camps. \u00a0With the help of relatives I finished my studies under the communist dictatorship and during the Hungarian uprising in 1956 I escaped to the West and settled in America. \u00a0I worked as an engineer, later I owned a construction management company which provided me with some free time to pursue my true love: the fine arts. \u00a0I attended painting courses at the Art Students League in NYC and later studied stone carving with Lissy Dennet. \u00a0During the last 10 years I had one man shows in Miami Beach, Port Washington and Great Neck exhibiting my sculptures. \u00a0But all this time my camera never left me, I became addicted to taking pictures of interesting, or beautiful things all around me and anywhere I traveled. \u00a0Photography became my passion in art.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I do not use Photoshop. \u00a0I use my computer to store my pictures, organize them and to improve the technical quality of the shots, but not to change their composition. \u00a0There are of course exceptions like those of the four photos I show in this exhibition. \u00a0I used the Picassa program to make these shots exceed reality to enhance their beauty. \u00a0I use a Panasonic Lumix camera and a Canon PhotoShot SX10. \u00a0One year ago I joined the Manhasset\/Great Neck Camera Club and received a number of first prizes in their monthly competitions.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Tulip Dreams&#8221; &#8211; &#8220;The influence of computer technology will be inescapable in the future of photography&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":12970,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[21],"tags":[],"class_list":{"0":"post-7712","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-artists"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/7712","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=7712"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/7712\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":12971,"href":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/7712\/revisions\/12971"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/12970"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=7712"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=7712"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=7712"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
