Miller"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;As a child I could only think of being an artist.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->&#8220;I have always enjoyed the process of creating. \u00a0I have explored all types of mediums in order to express my creativity. \u00a0At this time in my life I really enjoy oil painting as it has a long history of being a time honored tradition. \u00a0In my paintings I try to express a moment in time or a memory of a place. \u00a0It&#8217;s that intangible memory that I try to grasp like the fragile wings of a butterfly. \u00a0I know that my painting is successful when it triggers a viewer&#8217;s feeling of a memory about their own childhood or maybe a place that they themselves have experienced.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Nancy\u00a0earned her B.F.A. in sculpture at Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia. In 1994 she studied scenic painting at Cobalt Studios in White Lake, NY. \u00a0She has wrked as a scenic artist for theatrical productions nationwide. \u00a0 She earned a Certificate of Apreciation and a military coin if honor from Tripler Army Hospital in Hawaii after donating the design and overseeing the painting of 52 murals in the entire outpatient cancer clinic of the Department of Pediatrics. \u00a0She is also a founding member of Grisly Gothic Gables, a theatrical production that ran annually for 16 years. \u00a0She has been painting with oils for the past 8 years. \u00a0She also creates paper sculptures titled, &#8220;Prudently Preposterous Millinery.&#8221; \u00a0She has shown her paintings and sculptures at the Long Island Arts Council Art Alcove, the Freeport Public Library, and the Manhasset Public Library. \u00a0She recently earned an Honorable Mention at the Women of the World Think Big exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>Presently she is a faculty member at the Roslyn School of Painting and she is a member of the Art Advisory Committee at the Manhasset Public Library. \u00a0She still shares her knowledge of theatrical scenic painting with the students of Nassau Community College and dring Hofstra&#8217;s Grey Wig Productions.<\/p>\n<p>Nancy hopes her art will always serve to enhance the lives in the future as it has in the past.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;As a child I could only think of being an artist.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":15176,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[21],"tags":[],"class_list":{"0":"post-9018","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-artists"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/9018","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=9018"}],"version-history":[{"count":4,"href":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/9018\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":15188,"href":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/9018\/revisions\/15188"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/15176"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=9018"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=9018"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/manhassetlibrary.org\/site\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=9018"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
