National Society Daughters of the American Revolution: North Riding Chapter, Manhasset, Long Island

The North Riding Chapter, NSDAR, was organized on November 3, 1930.  The name “North Riding” was given to the chapter because in England a “riding” was the distance a person could ride in a day.  In 1665, our area was divided into 3 “ridings” and we were designated North.
The DAR, founded in 1890 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women’s service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America’s future through better education for children.  The North Riding Chapter continues to uphold these values and invites you to join us.  Our events, held throughout the year, cover a variety of topics such as local history, women’s issues, and pilgrimages to historic locations.
The chapter members meet on various weekdays and Saturdays.
