The naturalist John Burroughs wrote: “…the student and lover of nature has this advantage over people that gad up and down seeking novelty or excitement; he has only to stay at home and see the procession pass.”

Burroughs was writing about his native New York State.  Our state’s hillsides, forests, mountains, lakes, streams and beaches have been my inspiration through the procession of many days and seasons.  Over the years I’ve worked in oils, acrylics, watercolor and more recently, in pastels.  All of these mediums have helped me in my attempts to capture the moment and the feeling of a place in New York I’ve visited and loved.  My paintings are created from plein air studies, from my photographs, and many times from landscapes ever present in my memory.
