The 2025-2026 volunteer application is now available below. If you would like to continue volunteering at Manhasset Public Library after 6/30/25, the 2025-2026 application must be on file.
TEEN OUTREACH TEAM
Become a member of the Teen Outreach Team and connect fellow teens to all the programs and services that the Manhasset Public Library has to offer!
- Complete the virtual Outreach Team online training.
- You must have a completed Volunteer Application on file to access the training!
- The training can be done once per newsletter!
- Earn one hour of community service upon completion of the online training.
- You will receive a password to use when registering for programs.
- This is NOT the same as the volunteer password!
- Share what you’ve learned with a friend!
- Then, bring another teen to an eligible, in-person teen program at the Manhasset Public Library.
- Both of you will earn community service hours for your participation!

INDEPENDENT VOLUNTEER PROJECTS
To earn volunteer hours for the projects below, fill out and submit the Independent Project Form for each project.
THE RECYCLING CHALLENGE
Earn community service credit for exchanging aluminum cans and plastic bottles at a bottle exchange center.
Every 20 containers exchanged earns you 1 hour of community service.
A maximum of 10 service hours can be earned through this project.

TEEN BOOK REVIEWS
Students must choose a book from the teen or adult physical collections at the Manhasset Public Library. The book cannot be from the children’s room. Students will submit the review on the independent project form. The review must be between 100-200 words (500-1200 characters) and be written with no use of AI. Any student caught using AI will get one warning. If the student is caught using AI again they will no longer be able to take part in independent projects. There is also a list of titles and authors that are not eligible for review. Please review the list before selecting a title.
Teens can earn 1 hour per review.
Limited to 2 submissions per month.
A maximum of 8 hours can be earned through this project.

Manhasset Summer Reading Books
MATERIAL REVIEW
Help the library select what books to purchase for our collection. Come into the library and check out a kindle preloaded with ARCs (Advanced Reader Copies). Choose one to read and fill out the review form to be submitted no later than 2 weeks after the Kindles return. Kindles are in limited supply. If none are available you will be placed on a waitlist. Once contacted you have one week to pick it up.
Each submission is 3 credit hours. Teens can submit one review a month up to a maximum of 12 hours.
IN-PERSON TEEN VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
All volunteer programs have “Volunteer” listed in the program title. Teens must have a Volunteer Application on file to to sign-up for in person volunteer programs.
