Dr. James Kolb discusses Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.
Swan Lake was first presented in Moscow at the Bolshoi Theatre in 1877. It was revived in 1895 at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, with new choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, and it is from this version that most Western productions derive. Swan Lake is in the repertoire of virtually every major ballet company in the world and is one of the most popular ballets.
