As a native New Yorker, I am drawn to New York themes, particularly those rare, quiet, reflective moments amidst the normal chaos of the city.  Edward Hopper and other members of the “Ash Can School” are a big influence on my work; especially in the way they depict how one can be “alone” in a crowd.  Unlike Hopper, however, iI am drawn to subjects that can be represented in an almost poster-like manner by an arrangement of big, simple, colorful shapes.  Working in an impressionistic style, I strive to depict subjects in as few paint strokes as possible, allowing the viewer’s eye and mind to fill in the detail.  Some of my work can also be seen on fineartamerica.com and on dailypaintworks.com
