From the Circulation Department
The staff at MPL have continued to read, watch and listen – and WE are discovering more about our online resources than we ever knew! We all can’t wait until we’re back at work and able to communicate directly with patrons. In the meantime, here are some of the things we’ve been doing this week:
Books – Favorites Old and New
Origin by Dan Brown – This is the fifth novel featuring Robert Langdon. A thriller to the end! Larry L.- Reference (Available on Libby/Overdrive in audio and e-book)
Ask Again, Yes by Mary Beth Keane – A riveting story about two families whose lives become forever intertwined following an unspeakable tragedy. Cheryl K.- Reference (Available on Libby/Overdrive in audio and e-book)
I Know Who You Are by Alice Feeney – When actress Aimee Sinclair comes home to find her husband has disappeared; she is the number one suspect. This is a dark novel with an edge to it. Kristin G.- Circulation (Available on Libby/Overdrive in audio and e-book)
In Five Years by Rebecca Serle – A romantic novel that makes you think. Good for fans of Me Before You. Stephanie C.-Circulation (Available on Libby/Overdrive. Also check “Skip the Line”)
Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb – A therapist details her own personal crisis and experiences in therapy. Equal parts honest, vulnerable and fun. Amanda G.- Circulation (Available on Libby/Overdrive)
A Book and a Movie – Libby and hoopla Together
There are some wonderful movies available on hoopla. One of my favorite things to do is to read the book/watch the movie (and vice versa) and compare. Here are some favorites available on Libby and hoopla:
Like Water For Chocolate by Laura Esquivel – A magical book, very different from the average story. The movie is also wonderful (in Spanish with subtitles). If you are looking for something different, this is a great read/watch. Find on Libby – Find on hoopla
The English Patient by Michael Ondaatje – A romance, a mystery and a travelogue…who is the man covered in bandages? The movie is just as wonderful, with Kristen Scott Thomas and Ralph Fiennes. Find on Libby – Find on hoopla
A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman – A funny book that has a happy ending – what more could we want now? Ove is a cranky Swede who doesn’t like his new neighbors. The movie is heartwarming (in Swedish with subtitles). . Find on Libby – Find on hoopla
My favorites tend to be romances – what is your favorite book that was turned into a movie? Stephanie C., Circulation
Watching and Listening
