Leo Bliok came to Great Neck in 1942 with his parents, a young Belgian refugee escaping the Nazi onslaught in Europe.
Following his service in the Army of Occupation in Germany, he attended Pratt Institute, majoring in illustration. Pursuing a career in graphic design, he eventually became a principal at Atelier 57, a Manhattan-based graphic design firm.
Leo is a member of The Society of Illustrators where he has exhibited in both group and one-man shows. He is the winner of the coveted 1998 American Graphic Design award.
Leo Bliok believes that a very thin line separates illustration from fine art. “The only difference between fine art and commercial illustration is that in the former you choose the subject matter and the medium and there are not crazy deadlines.”
