“Ordinary Things”
My appreciation for printmaking comes from the creating and printing process, as well as from the quality of the print itself. The medium is full of elements of unpredictability from start to finish. These surprises contribute to the personality of the print.
Visually and conceptually, my work balances the familiar with the abstract. The various printmaking techniques and their combinations provide me with endless possibilities.
As a painter and print maker, I love the process both before and after the print is pulled. I find it most exciting when I can use the great surprises of the print to continue the piece with painting and stamping, and frequently to use layers to give it more depth.
