Initially, my work focused on realistic subjects, drawing from diverse sources. I then moved on to landscapes, mountains, rural scenes, often in Vermont, and on the Hamptons seacoast. I have also been fortunate to work with several talented photographers. Increasingly my paintings are more textured and more abstract. I use oil paint exclusively, generally on canvas. Most recent pieces demonstrate the use of a palette knife to achieve different effects.

I am currently based in Manhasset, New York though grew up in San Francisco. After living in Columbus, Ohio and Washington DC, my family settled in New York and I worked on Wall Street for 25 years. I always had an interest in art, inspired by my mother and endlessly sketched as a child, first horses, then ballet dancers. Throughout my career, I steadily accumulated pictures from magazines and newspapers to sketch, though that rarely happened with two children. So art took a backseat until I retired in 2009. I then began more formalized study in drawing and oil painting and now take several classes a week. I started painting with Steve Lampasona and currently study with Howard Rose, Donald Huber and Kyle Blumenthal. I am a member of several art associations and actively participate in shows. Art has become a very important part of my life.
