“I am a traditional photographer that chooses to use digital techniques.”
I started with film, but being a computer geek, I naturally migrated to digital. The images are what count, no matter the technology. My approach to photography is best explained by Ansel Adams. Two statements of his are the core of my photography:
- “Photography is more than a medium for factual communication. It is a creative art.”
- “You don’t take a photograph, you make it.”
My photographs that I make should require no explanation. Subject matter, composition and use of light should provide all the information the viewer needs. I feel that the use of the digital darkroom provides me with the tools to create these images that I see in my mind’s eye. Viewers should not have to think about how I created an image, but what the image is.
