Mission Statement
Developed by Antonia S. Mattheou, Archivist

The History Center at the Manhasset Public Library collects, preserves and provides access
to records related to the history of Manhasset since the area was first settled on December 13,
1643. Records kept in the History Center should be at least ten (10) years old and should contain
historical information about Manhasset’s past – information that is essential when charting
current and future activities.
Material housed in the History Center should be used by individuals engaged in historical
research and education. For a detailed description of the records, see the finding aid for each
record group.
