Colomba Furio-Spigner

 Colomba has always had a love for the arts from a young age…

In her retirement, she has had time to indulge in her two passions, painting and photography.

In her professional life Colomba has been an IT professional for over ten years with major Wall Street brokerage firms where she worked as a Programmer, Systems Analyst and Project Manager.  She has recently retired from a 28 year career as an educator for the New York City Department of Education where she worked as a teacher of Social Studies, English and Computer Technology.  She has also taught as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Pace University and Queensboro Community College and holds a PhD from NYU’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development.

She continues to teach part-time in the New York City Department of Education’s Dream Program, whose goal is to prepare underprivileged students achieve admission to the city’s specialized high schools.

For the past seven years, Colomba has been studying oil painting with Little Neck artist Howard Boesenthal.  She is a member of, and has exhibited with the Nassau Art League and the Manhasset Art Association.  She is also a member of the Great Neck-Manhasset Photography Club.

She lives in Plandome Manor with her husband and two sons.
