“I have always loved art.  The challenge of the creative process- the ability to turn a blank piece of paper into art, and the actual use of paint, never ceases to attract me.

The naturalist John Burroughs wrote: “…the student and lover of nature has this advantage over people that gad up and down seeking novelty or excitement; he has only to stay at home and see the procession pass.”

Ever since a very young age, painting has been the most natural and exciting form of expression for me, and in the last few years I have experimented in, and developed my style of collage.

A graduate of St. Martin’s School of Art (London) I spent my of my time at the Victoria and Albert Museums’ textile department studying centuries of rich embroideries and wall hangings.

 

Kathy P. Leistner was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and raised in West Lafayette, Indiana where she was a photographer for Purdue University’s newspaper, and upon graduation was a Media Specialist for Purdue Photographic Services. 

Flowers in February & March- A Multi-Media Exploration

The Manhasset Public Library together with its Art Advisory Committee and Exhibitions Director Amy Finkston, is pleased to announce a new exhibit in its Community Room Art Gallery titled, “Winter Warmth: Flowers in February & March.”

Before I discovered the pure joy and exhilaration of creating digital images, I first loved writing fiction and poetry. Now my thoughts more frequently demand a graphic representation.

My passion for photography stems back to my childhood years…seeing myself taking pictures with a black box Brownie camera which, you could say began my interest in picture-taking. 

David Wollin is a resident of Port Washington and has been an avid photographer since he was a teenager with a basement darkroom.
