“My connection to making art began early.  As a young child, I would sit at the kitchen table and draw while my mother worked at her dressmaking.  As much as I wished to, I never pursued my desire to follow art as a career choice.  Instead, my life path led to college, marriage, family and teaching.  To nourish my creative side during this phase of my life, I created quilts, stained glass, and handmade books which could all be done whenever I had time.

“There is a battle within me as to what kind of art to make.  It is always waged between the same two tendencies of realism and abstraction, and abstraction or non-objective art always prevails.  It is as if I were helpless to choose anything else.  I surrender to a kind of spirit world that wants to manifest itself through the materials I use, the paper, paint, printer’s ink or digital screen.

The contemporary works here feature music and motion.  The compositions are complex, inviting the viewer to discern new meaning with every glance.

“I have enjoyed making art for more than 20 years.  For me it is the process of making art that is so exciting.  It is the creative process of combining color, shape and spatial relationships that is the essence of my work.  I have always been passionate about using color and design.  My love of watercolor, the medium I use, has allowed me to create art which has a certain freedom, fluidity and design.

“As an artist, I am always observing the world around me.  Whether floral, landscape, animal, or figure, abstract or realistic, my images always go back to nature.  I am first and foremost a printmaker, although I work in other mediums, too.

Visual Artist-Painter

I am One Fortunate Artist, living the life for which I was created.

Since childhood I have been creating and exploring some sort of art-related visual project.  Being a creative person, my life as an artist assured that there was a safe harbor deep inside.  Art has always been a loving, joyous, nurturing, grounding and healing part of me.  I grew into adulthood knowing that I had a special gift, which has guiding me to make favorable life choices that honored my authentic self.
