This multi media exhibition presents the wonderful work of the members of the Long island Black Artists Association.
A critical formal component in all works of art, ‘composition’ directs the many choices an artist makes when constructing the visual elements of picture making.
This exhibition presents works by artists who visually compose in a variety of mediums, and convey their personal approaches to composition in these wonderful works on display.
Curated by Thomas Germano and Juliette Vaissiere

Local Author Materials
The library may acquire self-published books when they feature unique local content, fit
the scope of the Library’s collection and meet our selection criteria. Standards that apply
to our collection selection and maintenance apply to the Local Author materials.
● Authors must reside in Nassau County or the book must take place in Manhasset, or
otherwise demonstrate a strong local interest.
● Authors must submit a copy of their book for review by library staff along with the
Local Author Submission Form. The review copy will be returned upon request.
● A positive review in one or more of the major review journals (such as Library
Journal, School Library Journal, Kirkus Reviews, Booklist and Publishers Weekly) is
the best way to bring a title to our attention. We are more likely to consider the
addition of a self-published book if it has been reviewed in a major review journal.
● Please include a link to the book’s website and links to reviews or other coverage in
the news media (if available).
● The author must represent and warrant full ownership and/or legal rights to publish
all material in their book.
● Local authors offering a book for inclusion in our Local Author collection must
understand that the book is property of the Manhasset Public Library and subject to
the Collection Maintenance guidelines applied to other library materials.

Long Island is home of both native (aggressive) and non-native (invasive) species. Invasive species are organisms that are not native to the ecosystem under consideration and whose introduction is a constant challenge to the protection of our natural resources.
Most of us have never lived through a pandemic like Covid-19 before, but we have heard or learned about them, from the Spanish Flu to more notorious plagues like the Black Death.
Teen volunteers contributed their time and talent to showcase their artwork in our Tiny Art Exhibit.
